The Government of Canada has announced a consultation process leading to the second round of retaliatory tariffs in three weeks’ time. It has also noted that they will be taking steps to mitigate the impact of its tariff countermeasures by establishing a remission process to consider requests for exceptional relief from the tariffs imposed, as well as any future tariff actions. More details about these frameworks and processes will be announced in the coming days.

STEP will compile and share these comments with our provincial and federal governments to help inform and formulate their response.
