Media Release – STEP Welcomes International Buyers for First-Ever “Saskatchewan Global Commodities Showcase”

Media Releases

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — July 15, 2026

Saskatchewan’s agriculture commodity exporters have an unprecedented opportunity to connect with qualified international buyers from around the world during the inaugural Saskatchewan Global Commodities Showcase, hosted by Saskatchewan Trade & Export Partnership (STEP) on July 16 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The Showcase will welcome 69 international buyers and officials representing 14 countries: Argentina, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, India, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, Panama, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

The buyers are actively seeking suppliers of grains, pulses, oilseeds, special crops, and animal feed products, creating significant export opportunities for Saskatchewan companies looking to establish new international relationships or expand existing business.

More than 25 Saskatchewan exporters will join these buyers for a full day of business-to-business meetings. The program also includes crop outlook presentations and international market updates.

“Bringing this many international buyers directly to Saskatchewan is a unique opportunity for exporters,” said Chris Lane, President & CEO of Saskatchewan Trade & Export Partnership. “It brings global demand to our doorstep and reinforces Saskatchewan’s reputation as a trusted supplier of the agricultural products the world depends on. This is what market diversification looks like in action.”

Several of the buyer delegations representing Pakistan, the Middle East and North Africa (including Egypt), and Latin America (including Panama) are being supported by Saskatchewan’s network of international trade and investment offices. This underscores the strength of the province’s diversification efforts led by the Ministry of Trade and Export Development.

“Saskatchewan has what the world needs and is essential for global food and energy security. This Showcase is a great example of how we are connecting to new partners and markets,” Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding said. “By bringing international buyers directly to Saskatchewan, we are helping exporters build relationships, diversify markets, and create new opportunities that protect jobs, communities, and a strong economy here at home.”

The Saskatchewan Global Commodities Showcase is expected to become a flagship event in STEP’s international trade development programming, complementing STEP’s existing incoming buyer events.
